Principal’s Weekly Update—Week of September 25

Greetings! Happy Fall!

We had a nice celebration of the new season last Friday. We arranged ourselves into a very large letter formation of DAY = NIGHT for an all school photo to welcome Autumn and recognize that it is only one of two days during the year when we have an equal amount of light and dark. We also all enjoyed an apple. Thanks so much to those of you who donated apples. I’ll send a copy of the photo when it is ready.

Welcome, Officer Dobson! The Northampton Police Department and the Northampton Public Schools announced last spring that the NPD has assigned a Veteran officer, Officer Douglas Dobson, as a new liaison to the elementary schools. As I communicated last spring, Officer Dobson will visit our school on many Mondays and will be outside at morning recess and involved in morning meetings here at school so that he is a familiar face in our school community and in our neighborhoods. I have met with Officer Dobson, and he is a kind, calm man. At one time, he started school to become a physical education teacher, but then decided on police work. It will be nice to have him be a part of our community. I have included a photo of Officer Dobson so that he becomes familiar to you, too. Let me know if you have any thoughts or concerns.

Also, Ms. Desmond’s class has organized a collection for the American Red Cross to help with hurricane relief efforts. Thank you for all the donated change to change lives! Collection containers are in classrooms and in the front office.

The photos show some of our fun adventures last week at school!
