Principal’s Weekly Update—Week of January 2

Principal’s Weekly Update—Week of January 2

Happy New Year!

I hope you were able to enjoy the vacation with your children. It will be nice to have everyone back at school for the start of this new calendar year! Let’s hope these cold temperatures moderate a bit. It has certainly been a frigid start to 2018! Please remember to bundle up your children for recess, as we go out unless it is below 15 degrees.

The photos this week show our enthusiastic Winter Solstice celebration just before our holiday vacation. We had a spirited parade around the school and then joined in our traditional Winter Solstice singing. Mrs. Smiarowski’s class is seen leading one of the songs in the middle of our school circle. Everyone enjoyed a clementine following the parade. Thanks to all who donated delicious fruit. It was a fun afternoon!

The other photos show our school send-off for Mr. Kerstetter, who retired from our school before the vacation. Mr. St. George will be taking over for him in our Student Support Position.

Help if you can!

Are there any parents who would like to help keep our extra winter gear organized this season? We always have extra outdoor clothing for students who need it, but this collection of clothing really needs to be tended to on a daily basis to keep things dry and organized. Any volunteers? It would not take very long at the end of the school day (anytime after 2:00). Let me know if you can help. Thank you!

Budget Input from you!

Dr. Provost would appreciate your input into the school budget. Look on the district website to locate the survey (it will rotate through to the link or you can get to it by going to “News” and then “District Announcements”. Thanks to all who participate!
