Principal Madden’s Weekly Update—Week of September 16
We have been having wonderful days at school! I’ve included some photos of forest explorers, gardeners, artists, readers, mathematicians, and our Grow Food Northampton fruit and vegetable stand (every Thursday by the playground—check it out!)

Open House
Our Open House will take place on Wednesday, September 25 from 6-7. This is an excellent opportunity to celebrate learning, meet your child’s teachers, and take a tour of our wonderful school. We also hope all families will have their photos taken for our hallway display of family photos. Also, please sign up for a Parent/Teacher Conference. There will be a sign up sheet in the library. The Scholastic Book Fair will take place from 5:30-7:30 in the gym. This book fair supports our fabulous PTO. We look forward to seeing you and hope that you will leave feeling excited about the upcoming school year!
Academic Information Night
Academic Information Night—October 3 (5:30-6:30) Parents have been requesting a time to hear more about curriculum and classroom information…so here it is!
Teachers will provide a half hour session starting at 5:30 and repeating at 6:00 (in case of parents wanting to attend for more than one child).
Teachers (except for Grade 1 teachers, who already had a Family Information Night) will provide curriculum information, classroom routines, expectations for the upcoming year, and let you know about classroom communication. They will be happy to answer any questions you have.
Also, in the library, Clara McCoy (School Psychologist), Mary Beth O’Connor (Title 1 Reading Teacher), and Beth Brady (Title 1 Math Teacher) will share information about our school’s assessments and interventions (at 5:30 and again at 6:00).
Mrs. Madden will be offering hot cider and conversation in the Staff Room (off the library)
And…that’s not all! The Title 1 Annual Meeting and Pizza Dinner will take place in the cafeteria from 5:00-5:30. Please join if you are parent/caregiver of a student receiving Title 1 intervention services.
Childcare for school aged children will be provided by Ms. Minton & Mr. St. George (hopefully outside—but if inclement weather, in the gym)
Important Upcoming Dates
Wednesday, September 18: No School (Professional Development)
Wednesday, September 18: 6:00-7:30 There is no school on this day, but please plan to come to school for our PTO’s Ice Cream Social! Kids can enjoy being entertained by Ed. Pop, the magician, and caregivers can learn more about our fabulous PTO. Everyone is welcome! Yum and fun!
Monday, September 23: The Autumnal Equinox (first day of fall) Celebration (we’ll need apple donations!)
Tuesday, September 24: School Photo Day–Call the office if you have any questions. All students will receive a class photo regardless of whether or not you decide to order a photo package.
Wednesday, September 25: Open House (6-7) and PTO Book Fair (5:30-7:30)
Thursday, October 3: Title 1 Annual Meeting (5:00-5:30)
Thursday, October 3: Academic Information Night (5:30-6:30)
Friday, October 4: Early Dismissal at 12:20 (Teacher Work Day)

Wednesday, October 16: PTO Meeting at 6:30
Every Day Week of October 21: Early Dismissal (12:20) for Parent/Teacher Conferences
