Principal Madden’s Weekly Message—Week of October 25, 2021

Hello!

Sorry for the late update (I like to be regular with my Monday Update!). My dad is not doing well, and I needed to spend a couple of days with him. So, this is just a quick note.

Photos

This week’s photos show first graders learning about fire safety, fourth graders learning about electricity, our last day in the garden for this fall, fall leaf fun at recess, and some third grader deep into their books. Such good times at Ryan Road School.

Halloween

I am glad that students will be allowed to Trick-or Treat (with safety precautions) this year. Just a reminder: Do not send candy to school with your child. This is not a healthy snack and is now allowed for consumption at school. Also, we will NOT be dressing up for Halloween at school, BUT we will be having a special HAT DAY! And we will be collecting for UNICEF on Friday at school. Students do not need to make a donation to wear a hat, but I encourage as many donations as we can get. Halloween is a great time for kids

COVID Updates

We had great news (AGAIN) with our weekly safety check testing (pool testing). All pools from Thursday (10/21) were negative. Yea! Please stay vigilant regarding COVID safety and get vaccinated if you have not already done so. And, call me if you have any questions.

We will continue to have our safety testing on Thursdays. We begin at 8:30. Some members of the National Guard have started helping us with our testing. Our fabulous nurse, Karen Schiaffo, and/or I always accompany any testers as we collect all the swabs. We are getting this down to a pretty efficient routine. We have a large number of students testing, which is fabulous. If you want to have your child participate or if you have questions about the testing, please contact Nurse Karen.

Call (587-1557) or email our wonderful nurse, Karen Schiaffo, if you have any questions.
