Principal Madden’s Weekly Message—Week of November 8, 2021

Hello!

Reminder: No School on Thursday (11/11) for Veterans Day
Also, we collected $246.27 for UNICEF! Thank you to all those who donated!!

I hope you enjoyed the lovely weekend!

Photos

This week’s photos show one of our fabulous kindergarten ESPs, Mrs. Braidman, talking with a group of students, wonderful readers in our library, and first graders playing a math game. Other photo shows first grade art created with pattern blocks—beautiful!

COVID Updates:

I hope you received the robocall from Dr. Provost last Friday. Here is the letter regarding vaccinations. I am glad that vaccinations for children are becoming available.

We had great news (AGAIN) with our weekly safety check testing (pool testing). All pools from Thursday (11/4) were negative. Yea! Please stay vigilant regarding COVID safety and get vaccinated if you have not already done so. And, call me if you have any questions.

We will continue to have our safety testing on Thursdays. We begin at 8:30. Some members of the National Guard have been helping us with our testing. Our fabulous nurse, Karen Schiaffo, and/or I always accompany any testers as we collect all the swabs. We are getting this down to a pretty efficient routine. We have a large number of students testing, which is fabulous. If you want to have your child participate or if you have questions about the testing, please contact Nurse Karen.

Call (587-1557) or email our wonderful nurse, Karen Schiaffo, if you have any questions.

Help Needed! Homeless Shelter Dessert

Our Ryan Road Community has, for many years, teamed up with the League of Women Voters and provided dessert for the homeless shelter on Center Street once a month. Last year the shelter was closed, but the shelter is back up and running, and we have been asked to participate again. Teachers were having students bake with parent or VINS volunteers during the school day, but without volunteers allowed in the building, teachers are not able to do this with their students at this time. We are scheduled for the first Friday of each month. The task would be to make dessert for 25 and to deliver it to the shelter at 43 Center Street at 5:45. This work continues through April. Please let me know if you are willing to take this on for any of the months (December through April).

Thank you!
