Principal Madden’s Weekly Message—Week of November 22, 2021

Hello!

I hope you enjoyed the weekend! I also want to send best wishes for a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Photos

This week’s photos show some delicious cider-making with Grow Food Northampton. Most of our classes (not grade 5) participated in this, and I heard rave reviews! Also, last Monday brought a beautiful rainbow to Ryan Road School. One photo shows some of our students running right through it—such fun! Other photos show 5th graders creating a cubic yard and using a“stop motion” program to illustrate food chains. And, our first graders made wonderful turkeys in disguise! Fabulous!

Girls on The Run

And, last weekend all of students who participated in Girls on the Run finished their 5K race! Hooray for all of them and to our coaches, Ms. Walden and Ms. Tina. There will be a new season of Girls on the Run beginning in March (and we’ll send information when we get closer to it).

COVID Updates

We had great news (AGAIN) with our weekly safety check testing (pool testing). All pools from Thursday (11/18) were negative. Yea! Please stay vigilant regarding COVID safety and get vaccinated if you have not already done so. And, call me if you have any questions.

We will continue to have our safety testing on Thursdays. We begin at 8:30. Our fabulous nurse, Karen Schiaffo, and/or I always accompany any testers as we collect all the swabs. We are getting this down to a pretty efficient routine. We have a large number of students and staff testing, which is fabulous. If you want to have your child participate or if you have questions about the testing, please contact Nurse Karen.
