Principal Madden’s Weekly Message—Week of May 9, 2022

Happy Mother’s Day (yesterday) to all the mothers!

You all do such important work every day, and I hope you were appreciated!

Photos

This week’s photos show some of the wonderful staff appreciation events—breakfast boxes, flowers in the staff room,  and lunch from the Local Burger food truck (staff favorite!). Thank you so much to all of you, our fabulous PTO, and the Igneri family for taking such good care of us during Staff Appreciation Week. Everyone certainly felt appreciated! Other photos show some first grade readers enjoying books…always a treat to see.

COVID Updates

We did have a few positive COVID again last week and others reported positive over the weekend. Fingers crossed that we can keep our numbers low.

I just wanted to make sure that everyone understands the process for positive COVID cases at this point. We find out about positive cases through Thursday testing, parent notification, or school testing (if a student has symptoms and permission to test). If there is a positive case, everyone in that class has to mask (inside) for 5 days after exposure. Caregivers and staff associated with that class get notified via email. Please let Nurse Karen know if you have any questions. Thank you!

Keeping a Cool Head: Earth Friendly Event!

Please come to NHS on Saturday, May 14 from 9-2 for our large Eco Fair—Cooler Communities! We will have student project displays, clubs, speakers, and vendors all related to climate change actions right here at our schools!

Please contact Sue Sullivan with any questions at susullivan@northampton-k12.us

Caregiver Survey:

If you haven’t had a chance to complete the survey regarding equity, we would love to get your feedback. Thank you for taking the time to fill out surveys! I am always hopeful to get as many Ryan Road voices as we can!

Please remember that we are a scent-aware learning community. We have people here who have allergies to scented products, and we ask that you and your children refrain from wearing these products at school. Thanks for your cooperation.
