Principal Madden’s Weekly Update—Week of January 27, 2020

School Video Project

I hope you have seen the Kindergarten video that was created this past fall. It is right at the top of our school website. This project started at Leeds (the videographers are parents there) and has expanded to try and get the word out about all that is going on in our public schools.

The project will continue with a video about our whole school and some testimonials from teachers and parents. I will send information and permission slips to families this week.

Here is some information from the videographers:

Hi! We are two parents who want to help promote our public elementary schools by making a video to highlight the strengths of our schools and the district in general.  We would really like to hear from YOU – families of children who go to Ryan Road Elementary School!

Please click on this link to complete the Ryan Road School Family Survey.

Hola!

Thank you so much for your time!

From Superintendent, Dr. John Provost:

Dear Caregivers,

We enter this budget season without knowing the outcome of the Proposition 2 1/2 override vote. As always, we will advocate for the high priority needs of our schools. Obviously, we would be able to address those needs more effectively with additional funding from the override. We will plan for either outcome by preparing multiple budget scenarios this year. As is always the case, we will solicit input from the faculty, staff, students, and community members to help us determine priorities for our budget planning. We invite you to share your thoughts by responding to this survey which is posted on the district website and available directly at this link.

Photos

This week’s photos show winter fun at recess (most of our students really love to play outside, even in the cold weather!).

One of the photos is from Friday, when we had some warmer weather.

Other photos who some of the creative and thoughtful work of some of our students around the values that Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. fostered.

And, there is one photo of great cooperation around the trains in kindergarten. Getting along respectfully is something we work on every day here at school, and our students are very kind.
