Principal Madden’s Weekly Update—Week of February 25

Principal Madden’s Weekly Update—Week of February 25

The photos this week show first grade and kindergarten outdoor adventures in the woods across from our school. We are so lucky to have a place to explore in the forest so close to school. We are lucky to have Mr. Ted, too, our naturalist from the Hitchcock Center.

Other photos show more healthy cooking with Grow Food Northampton! Yum!

One of the other photos shows a first grader with “Echo” the owl from our Fundations program. This program really helps our students learn letter sounds.

The last photo shows some of our avid readers in the library. Speaking of reading…

Read Across Ryan Road

We will celebrate “Read Across America” (always celebrated near Dr. Seuss’s birthday on March 2) on Friday, March 1. Communication about specific classroom activities will come home from classroom teachers, but there is usually time during the day for relaxed and fun reading. The PTO organizes a Book Swap for this day, too, so your children will come home with “new” gently used books. If any of you have donations, please drop them off in the school office. Students do not have to donate books to get books. Three cheers to our Ryan Road Readers!

Be on the lookout for information regarding the PTO-sponsored weeklong Ryan Road Read-a-thon that happens March 1-7.

March is Music in the Schools Month—School Concert: March 19 at 9:30

Our students are preparing for their participation in our annual concert. Each class meets once a week with our music teacher, Ms. O’Connell. Some of their learning will be showcased on March 19 at 9:30. Please join us if you are able.

The PTO will also have Ryan Road Gives Day on the concert day to raise funds for an upgraded sound system in our gym/auditorium. Please donate if you are able.  Thank you!

Science Night is March 12 at 6:30

If you missed the Science Night Information Night, you can still make a project. Tri-folds and information are in the school office.  You do not have to do a project to have fun at science night, but creating a project is fun, too!
