Lego Robotics

Thanks to a grant from WPI, students in grade 5 at Ryan Road were able to take their coding up a level in the TechKnowledgeY Lab. They were tasked to build a robot with Lego Spike Prime kits and program the robots to perform certain tasks from this year’s First Lego League Challenge – Cargo Connect. Working in teams of two, students explore challenges around transportation. From the shipment of packages, to delivery and transit, teams use computational thinking, problem solving, programming, engineering design and collaboration to accomplish these goals.

Their sense of accomplishment at the end of a series of unsuccessful attempts due to obstacles presented in their code or mistakes in measurement or calculation is evident in their eagerness to get back to the lab!
