 THANK YOU, JSS GARDENERS!

We had an energetic and amazing crew of parents, children and teachers last week at our fall Harvest Festival and Garden Work Day! About 35 people worked together to get our school garden ready for the winter. We weeded and raked; spread wood chips on the paths; swept the shed and organized the garden pots and supplies; repaired the compost bin cover; cut back the raspberry bushes; and replanted perennials. Throughout the afternoon we enjoyed harvest foods and apple cider, sharing company and good humor as we worked in our garden. A very big thank you to
our harvest volunteers, and to Dostal Tree Service for donating the woodchips for all of our garden paths!

Over the weekend our valiant greenhouse crew continued to work on raising the walls of the new greenhouse. Special thanks to our harvest volunteers, and to Scott Biddle, Chris Chamberland, Jared Kajka and Paul Fitzgerald for their tireless work on the greenhouse! We also want to thank our wonderful PTO and the JSS Garden Committee for their support; the Northampton Education Foundation for continuing to fund the garden program; and Hope Guardenier and Diego Irizarry-Gerould of School Sprouts, our garden educators! What an incredible community we have here at JSS!
