Modeling Works of Art by NHS Students

Students in the sculpture class at Northampton High, took their creativity to the runway in designing new fashion out of “trash” objects. Student artists in Louise Martindell’s period 2 Sculpture class at NHS celebrate their wearable sculpture creations (“Trashion Fashion”) as part of end-of-the semester wrap-up activities that culminated with a professional photoshoot with technology teacher Jeromie Whalen. This project was part of a Found Object, Recycled and Upcycled Sculpture Unit wherein students investigated how to use fashion as a means of creative individual expression through making upcycled wearable sculptural garments and researched issues related to resource use, climate change and human consumption and waste as it relates to caring for our planet.
