8th Grade Caregivers’ Night

January 31, 2024 / 6:30 – 8:00pm / NHS Auditorium

Northampton High School will host 8th Grade Caregivers Night on Wednesday, January 31st at 6:30 p.m. in the Northampton High School Auditorium. Representatives from NHS Administration, the School Counseling Department, Athletics, and each of the teaching departments will attend. This session is your opportunity to learn more about what to expect with regards to students starting at Northampton High School. The presentation includes an overview of block scheduling, the typical 9th grade schedule, the scheduling process, and extracurricular activities.

Visiting Days for New Students and Families

NHS Visiting Days for students and families are scheduled throughout March, April, May, and June and these will provide an in depth discussion on transitioning to Northampton High School and the course selection process.  We will be offering a virtual option this year – May 29th.

March 14th (Session is FULL)   ♦   March 21st (Session is FULL) 

April 9th  ♦  April 24th  ♦  May 2nd  ♦  May 29th (virtual)

Sessions begin at 3:00pm 

  • IN PERSON GROUP TOURS WILL BEGIN IN FRONT OF THE MAIN OFFICE AT 3:00PM.
  • THE TOUR WILL INCLUDE AN INFORMATIONAL SESSION WITH A SCHOOL COUNSELOR AND THEN A GUIDED TOUR LED BY STUDENTS.
  • PRIVATE TOURS WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE AT OTHER TIMES. 

IMPORTANT NOTES:

For the virtual sessions: NHS Guidance will send a Zoom link on the Monday prior to the session you request.

For in-person sessions:  The bus loop and areas immediately next to the school are tow zones.  Visitor parking is located in the lot down and to the right of the flagpole. 

Central Student Registration

Northampton Public Schools has Central Registration where ALL Students Grades PK-12th Grade enroll in the same location.

There are forms packets specific to different grades. ALL Forms and supporting documents should be submitted to the Central Registration Office. Located in the Northampton Public School Administrative Office in downtown Northampton in the Municipal Building behind City Hall at 212 Main Street on the 2nd Floor.  There is ample parking in the rear of the building by the Peter Pan Bus Terminal/Round House Plaza. Our building is also close to the PVTA bus dropoff in front of the Academy of Music.

For immediate enrollment during the curent school year, we require that you meet with the registrar to review and process your student’s registration.

• Fill out the Registration Forms and return via email to registrar@northampton-k12.us (Or request a paper packet is mailed to you)
• You have TWO options for submitting forms and documents:

Option 1: supply all of the required documents as high quality scans or

Option 2: come in person with originals to be copied (you will keep originals)

HOW TO COMPLETE THE FORMS:  Download THEN OPEN the attached file. Next enter your student’s information into the fillable PDF File. When complete, “Save As” (Not Save) and rename the document to your child’s name (or print to pdf and rename). The source file is protected to stay blank. If you prefer to fill it out by hand, you can print it first. Forms may have issues with MAC computers.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:
1. Student’s Birth Certificate (certified document -not hospital record)
2. Health Records: School Exam Record (or Patient Exam Record) shows hearing & vision test, lead test results (K & PK), and has the electronic signature certifying that the child may participate in school AND includes the Immunization Records.  Students cannot start school without required health records (per state regulations (105 CMR 220.000)

3. Photo ID of Parent(s)/Legal Guardians
4. Proof of residency: 1st page of lease showing address and occupants, section 8 agreement, or deed/recent mortgage statement/property tax card (http://northampton.ias-clt.com/parcel.list.php).
5. Proof of occupancy: recent utility bill for gas, heating oil, electric, home phone, cable, or trash. If your lease includes utilities, please provide your car registration or insurance, or the top portion of a bank or credit card statement showing your name/address.
6. If applicable: any court documents such as parents’ custody agreement, legal guardianship, DCF Care, Legal name change, etc.
7. If applicable: 504 Accommodation Plan or Individual Education Plan (IEP)
If you are unable to acquire any of these items due to your circumstances, please contact the Registrar for additional support and assistance.

Additional Important Health Information

  • Each School has a health office with a Registered Nurse – if your student has complicated medical needs please contact the nurse
  • Any student with asthma, serious allergies or that need medication during the school day will be required to submit a Medication Authorization Form and drop off medication to the nurse

School Choice Program:  Students living in other school districts may apply to attend Northampton Public Schools.
