Each month, Freshampton cafeteria staff do taste tests at each NPS elementary school that feature the Harvest of the Month (HOTM). In October, we taste tested an Apple, Ham, and Spinach wrap to showcase the apple HOTM using local apples from Pine Hill Orchard in Colrain, MA. We received overwhelmingly positive feedback from students who tried it and as a result, it was served as a main entree for lunch on November 14th! Part of our mission at Freshampton is to ensure that student voice is reflected into our menus, and monthly taste tests to try out new recipes is just one way that we put that mission into action.
