Transportation Services
Northampton Public Schools is pleased to offer bus transportation for the 2024-2025 school year. You must register your student for transportation annually. Students in grades K-6 who live two miles or more from their assigned school will be transported free of charge (but must still sign up). Students in grades K-12, who live more than 1.5 miles from their assigned school will be offered paid bus transportation on a first-come first-served basis. Capacity is limited and the fees are shown below.
Payment is required at the time of registration to be added to the route list. Our routes are designed to travel on main roads, with neighborhood pick-ups being limited.
Eligibility
Distances are calculated from home to school using Google Maps.
Any student residing under 1.5 miles from their school is not eligible for bus transportation unless the street has been designated “hazardous.” Please call the Transportation Office for details.
Fee Schedule
Fee Waivers
Fee waivers are available for qualifying students (households that receive SNAP benefits, fuel assistance, subsidized housing, etc.). Verification is determined through the State’s Direct Certification system. Families may fill out a Federal Free & Reduced Meals Program Application.
Bus registration opens in June and closes on August 2nd.
Applications for 2024 – 2025 are still being accepted, but applications submitted after the August 2 deadline will not have bus transportation for the 1st week of school and require a $25 late fee. To submit a late application, please print out the application below.
Dual Passes
Dual passes are for students with two caregivers living in separate addresses in the same school district.
Students applying for Dual Passes must fill out the paper version of the bus form and mail it to the Transportation Office along with payment (if payment is required).
