Transportation Services

 

Northampton Public Schools is pleased to offer bus transportation for the 2024-2025 school year. You must register your student for transportation annually. Students in grades K-6 who live two miles or more from their assigned school will be transported free of charge (but must still sign up). Students in grades K-12, who live more than 1.5 miles from their assigned school will be offered paid bus transportation on a first-come first-served basis. Capacity is limited and the fees are shown below.

Payment is required at the time of registration to be added to the route list. Our routes are designed to travel on main roads, with neighborhood pick-ups being limited.

 
 

 

 
 

 

 
 

Bus Ridership Eligibility and Fee Schedule

 

Eligibility

Distances are calculated from home to school using Google Maps. 

Any student residing under 1.5 miles from their school is not eligible for bus transportation unless the street has been designated “hazardous.” Please call the Transportation Office for details. 

 


 

Fee Schedule

  • Grades K-6 Over 2 Miles: Free
  • Grades K-5 Residing 1.5 -1.99 Miles From School
    • Annual Fee: $230
    • Or Per Trimester: $77
    • Or Early Discount if Paid in Full by July 8th: $207
  • Grades 6-12 Residing 1.5+ Miles From School
    • Annual Fee: $309
    • Or Per Trimester: $103
    • Early Discount if Paid in Full by July 8th: $278

Fee Waivers

Fee waivers are available for qualifying students (households that receive SNAP benefits, fuel assistance, subsidized housing, etc.). Verification is determined through the State’s Direct Certification system. Families may fill out a Federal Free & Reduced Meals Program Application.

Bus registration opens in June and closes on August 2nd.

Applications for 2024 – 2025 are still being accepted, but applications submitted after the August 2 deadline will not have bus transportation for the 1st week of school and require a $25 late fee. To submit a late application, please print out the application below.

Dual Passes

Dual passes are for students with two caregivers living in separate addresses in the same school district. 
Students applying for Dual Passes must fill out the paper version of the bus form and mail it to the Transportation Office along with payment (if payment is required).

Bus Stop Pick-Up Times and Locations

  • Approximately 5 days before the start of school, you will receive the Bus Stop information, including the approximate pick-up time, location, and bus number, to the email you provided when you submitted the online form.
  • Students are expected to be at their designated stop at least 10 minutes before pick-up time.
  • Parents of young children should wait at the stop with their children.
  • Bus Passes will be distributed to students on their first day of attendance. After distribution, all students must have their bus pass with them.
