RK Finn Ryan Road Elementary School and Leeds Elementary participates in Read Across America

Read Across America is a national initiative that includes National Read Across America Day, a tradition created by the National Education Association, in 1997.  Each year, on the school day closest to March 2 (the birthday of Dr. Seuss) students participate in the nation’s largest reading event.

Ryan Road Elementary School celebrated Read Across America, with their own, Read Across Ryan Road! This celebration to honor Dr. Seuss and love of books included classroom activities, guest readers, and a school wide book swap!

Ms. Ramsden and Ms. Maggio’s first grade classrooms made “Wockets for their Pockets” and hosted Officer Dobson and Fire Fighter Max as their guest readers.

At Leeds Elementary School, teachers and students alike got in the spirit of the day!  Ms. Cox read Dr Seuss books to students and introduced the library’s Dr Seuss Trivia Contest posted on the Leeds Library website under “News from the Circulation Desk” (find a link to the library page and the contest here)!

Thanks for all the participating PTO’s, teachers and students for making this day such a wonderful success!
